If you know that your device do support VPN all that is left is to decide about VPN protocol.
What VPN – what protocol and where will it be used?
Do you remember when we wrote that “the devil is in the detail” where VPN is concerned? This is because some of you, in specific countries will be forced to use specific VPN protocols. But lets get not ahead of ourselves.
VPN protocol is in general the way your VPN tunnel is created and data is encrypted. Different companies have come up with different solutions to the VPN idea. Because of that right now in most cases you can choose from PPTP, L2TP/IPsec. SSTP, OpenVPN and SoftEther VPN protocols.
If you notice problems with specific protocol the reason behind it might be general policy of your country or ISP. For example it is almost impossible to use OpenVPN in China. Also, some of the protocols, like SSTP are specific for certain systems. SSTP can only be used with Windows Vista/7/8/10. Again, please contact us for the best solution to your specific location.
Last thing in regard of VPN is speed or should we say bandwidth. Although all our VPN servers are fast, they offer bandwidth of up to 1 Gbps per user, but you will notice in some cases that your broadband works “slower” with VPN than without it. The reason for it is simple. VPN connection is not direct connection between you and VPN server. In reality it passes through many intermediary servers. The further apart you are, the more severs are there to pass through (this also is why VPN data are encrypted) and the lower overall bandwidth of connection. This is why it is best to choose server closest to you.
And remember – if your device does not support VPN you can always use Smart DNS to unblock best VOD, TV and music sites.
